BRATTLEBORO, VT – Friends and family members have been gathering at Lynde Motorsports here since word of owner Stanley Lynde’s death Monday night began spreading. An official goodbye for Lynde is now planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at 5345 Hinesburg Road in Guilford, VT. Riders will gather at the Flat Street shop at 11 a.m. and then ride to the Lynde Well Drilling location.
“He was tough as nails and fought with all he had, but his injuries were just too severe,” reported daughter Kelli Lynde Worden in a post on the GoFundMe page set up to raise money to cover medical expenses. She said Lynde was “surrounded by his loving family” at the time of his death. As of this morning, $91,550 had been pledged with a increased goal of $100,000.
Lynde was seriously injured in crash on Sept. 25 on Route 5 in Bellows Falls, VT. He was riding with his wife, Laura DeAngelo Lynde, and was struck by a truck driver who has pleaded not guilty to gross negligent operation. He was airlifted to a hospital in Albany, NY.
In the GoFundMe post, Worden repeated her father’s belief that “Life is short, break the rules, forgive quickly, love honestly, laugh easy, keep it simple, ride often, ride FREE and never regret anything that makes you smile.”
She reported, “My Dad has always lived his life just like these words read. His love and laughter were his greatest gifts. He had an ability to teach others and make each and every person he met feel like the only person in the room. We are all better people because we knew and loved my Dad.”
The celebration of life is being organized by Darlene Smith (603-361-0775) and Sheena Derosia (603-313-9837), who are seeking food and monetary donations. Those attending are asked to bring a bring chairs, photos and memories.
Worden said that her father departed “doing what he absolutely loved with the live of his life” with “the wind in his face, a belly full of his favorite ice cream, the sun kissing his skin and the woman he loved wrapped around him.”
