Harley 110th Anniversary Celebration Involves Pope

By Bud Wilkinson of RIDE-CT.com

Pope Benedict XVI’s security detail may ride Italian-made police version Ducati Multistradas, fitting since the Vatican is in Rome, but His Holiness took time on Wednesday to greet two visitors from Milwaukee – Willie G. Davidson and his son, Bill Davidson.

They brought with them two Harley-Davidson gas tanks for the Pope to bless and sign. The tanks will be mounted on two motorcycles, one of which will go straight to the Harley-Davidson Museum. The other will be auctioned off to support the Good Samaritan Foundation.

The meeting between Harley royalty and the Pope launched the countdown for the company’s 110th anniversary celebration event in Rome, set for next June 13-16.
