Harley-Davidson has denied a warranty claim of a Wisconsin rider because of the many big flags on his trike, including a three-foot-by-five-foot U.S. flag. Dave Zien, a former state lawmaker, experienced clutch failure on his 2014 Harley-Davidson trike during a trip to Dallas.
Harley says the warranty is still in effect, but that the specific claim was denied because the bike was not designed to handle the additional wind resistance at high speeds created by the flags.
The Milwaukee “Journal Sentinel” reports that Zien flew seven flags on the trike, including a National Rifle Association banner that says “Stand and Fight.” The newspaper has the full story here.
