Harley Puts Street 750 On Ice For X Games

It wasn’t on display at the Progressive International Motorcycle Show in New York last month, and hasn’t even been seen publicly in the U.S. since its unveiling in Milan, Italy in November, but today Harley-Davidson finally took the wraps off of its new Street 750 stateside by announcing the model will be part of an ice racing exhibition sport at the X 1-Street - two-shotGames in Aspen, CO.

ESPN plans to showcase ice racing during its X Games coverage today, and then allow fans to comment on whether ice racing should become a winter sport at future X Games. Comments will be welcomed at Twitter hashtag #XGIceRace.

“While the Street was designed to handle urban environments, its instant throttle response, lean chassis and super-low seat height make it perfect to ride anywhere,” said Dino Bernacchi, Harley’s director of North American marketing communications.

In a press release, Bernacchi explained, “We modified several Street motorcycles by adding steel screws to the tires and let the world’s best flat track racers tear up the ice at high speeds. We think fans will be captivated by the extreme attitude and beauty they’ll see on the ice.”

Oh, yeah, Harley also said the new Street model will be displayed at upcoming IMS events in Phoenix, Cleveland, Chicago and Seattle.
