The date has quietly been listed on the Events page for more than a week thanks to insider information, but the official announcement didn’t come until today that the Springfield Museums will host their 5th annual Indian Motocycle Day on Sunday, July 20. Yes, it’s “Motocycle” without the “r” as that’s the way the brand was originally identified.
Originally held at the Indian motocycle factory not far away, Indian Motocycle Day is now staged in the parking lot alongside the Lyman and Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History in Springfield, MA.
Last year, more than 1,000 visitors enjoyed the vintage Indians brought in by their owners to display as well as those in the Esta Manthos Indian Motocycle Collection inside the museum.
Hours of the Indian Motocycle Day show are from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. with trophies being awarded to pre-1953 Indians in several categories. Owners wishing to exhibit their bikes and vendors wanting spots may contact the museum at 413-263-6800, ext. 304.
