The Connecticut Rider Education Program has pretty much shut down for the season, but if you’re still itching to take the Basic Rider Course, it may not be too late.
John Purdy Jr., who oversees the program at Naugatuck Valley Community College in Waterbury, reports that two classes are planned for this weekend. They’re filled with 24 students, so he’s looking at adding another class for next weekend (Nov. 23-24). If eight or more people sign up, the class will be held. The number to call is 203-575-8029.
Registration for next year’s classes in Waterbury and at the UConn campus in Torrington opens at N.V.C.C. on Dec. 27.

After saying a couple of weeks ago that a batch of new Nortons had shipped from England, Norton announced yesterday afternoon that its Commando Sport, Commando Cafe Racer and Commando Sport Factory models are now in dealer showrooms – marking the return of the brand to the U.S. after a more than 30-year absence.
Norton said it will take until spring for back orders to be filled. There are only nine dealerships in the U.S. and the company says more will not being added until current demand can be met.
Norton’s website shows that the two closest dealers to New England are Gold Coast Motorsports in New Hyde Park, NY and Trebour Motorcycles in Ledgewood, NJ.
