R.I. Sets Aside Spaces for Motorcycles

By Bud Wilkinson of RIDE-CT.com

An idea from governmental entity that actually makes sense – and is useful to riders?

The General Assembly in Rhode Island has passed legislation and the governor has signed off on providing specific parking spaces for riders at state, city and town buildings. The new law requires that a motorcycle parking plan be established by November and spaces be set aside by April 1, 2013.

Motorcycle parking spaces will be required “in areas that are adjacent to or within sight of applicable the municipal or state building (and) the spaces made available will be designated with appropriate signage,” according to a state press release.

Unauthorized use of a motorcycle-designated parking space will result in an $85 fine. Motorcycle spaces will not be required at state airports.
