NEW YORK – If you can’t make it to the Progressive International Motorcycle Show at the Javits Center this weekend, not to worry because RIDE-CT / RIDE-New England has made the trek for you and come home with some snapshots from the show floor.
While no new models were revealed during media day at the IMS on Thursday, there was the opportunity to get a first look in person of several new 2015 models, the highlight being Ducati’s Scrambler collection.
Honda went in the opposite direction with its exhibit, showcasing the history of its Gold Wing model, which is marking 40 years.
New to the U.S. this model year is the 2015 Kawasaki Versys 1000.
Suzuki, meanwhile, has redesigned the 650cc version of the V-Strom, giving it a new beak-styled front end.
Smaller displacement models are getting more prominence with KTM offering a 390 Duke model.
Yamaha has a small sport bike in the R3 (below at right). Also new from Yamaha is the FJ-09 sport tourer (below at left).
Also in the smaller sport touring category is BMW’s 2015 F 800 R.
Triumph is out with new versions of its Tiger 800, including the XCx, shown off by Cristy Lee of “All Girls Garage.”
Hours for the IMS are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $18 for adults and $6 for children 6-12.
Wish I could help, but I always take the train and cab it to the IMS… On second thought, don’t know where you’re coming from, but the Holiday Inn on 57th St (near the West Side Highway) is where I always park whenever I go into the city on other occasions. I then subway or cab it. The location makes it easy to get on the highway and get out of town.
I am planning to go tomorrow (Sunday) by motorcycle. Any recommendations on parking?
