Another day at Daytona Bike Week, another new bike revealed. At noon today, Star Motorcycles took the cover off of the new Bolt model, a bobber-style bike with loads of attitude, loads of accessories and an affordable price – $7,990 for the base version and $8,290 for the R-spec model.
Powered by a 942cc, fuel-injected, air-cooled V-twin motor, the Bolt has a low seat height (27.2 inches) and a weight of 540 pounds with a full tank. Tank size is 3.2 gallons, and Star claims the belt-driven Bolt gets more than 50 mpg. It also as 12-spoke cast wheels with a 19″ front and 16″ rear.
In unveiling the Bolt during an event that was streamed live, Star product planning manager Derek Brooks said the bike’s “less is more” approach will make it great for commuting and for the open road. The price point is certainly attractive. “A lot of chrome and expensive paint financially just aren’t an option for a lot of us,” he said.
The basic Bolt will be in showrooms in April with the upgraded R-spec due in July.
