Yamaha fans can say “goodbye” to the four-cylinder FZ8 and “hello” to the FZ-09, a new model for 2014 that was unveiled today. It’s powered by an 847cc inline triple engine that’s linked to a three-into-one exhaust.
With a price tag of $7,990, the FZ-09 will cost $900 less than the bike it replaces and $2,800 less than an FZ1. It also weighs 53 pounds less than the FZ8, coming in at 414 pounds with fluids thanks largely to 10-spoke aluminum wheels that are 85 pounds lighter.
While the FZ-09 lacks is ABS and traction control, it does have ride-by-wire throttle and three riding modes. Look for it in showrooms this fall.
